Welcome 2009!
Happy New Year! I have a few things I would like to say as I say good-bye to 2008 and hello to 2009.
First, to Donnie, Danny, Jordan, Joe and Jon, Thank you for making my 2008 an amazing year! I had the most fabulous time in Minneapolis and I feel very grateful that I was able to meet all of you and see an unforgettable show. I look forward to what you will bring to all of us in 2009 and you better believe I will be there! Love to you all.
Next, to my very best friend, Kris. What an unbelievable year we had! Vegas in June and NKOTB in October! I don't think either one of us ever thought that going to see NKOTB after 15 years would have the impact it did on our friendship. It brought us closer together, it gives us the chance to giggle like we did in 1988!!! I cherish the fact that I have you to share this with. I look forward to an amazing time in 2009!! Love you and miss you like crazy!
To all the wonderful ladies I met from the NKOTB forum and met up with in Minneapolis. Janelle, Stacey, Kristin D, Lauren and Gerry. You girls are forever my friends. I miss you all!!
Finally, even though he will never read this I do need to thank my hubby for accepting my NKOTB Obsession even though he does not understand it. He is a great husband and I love him with my whole heart.
Welcome 2009!!! Let's get this!!!

Donnie is the man..
I have a sweet story to share. Last night I was out with some friends having margaritas and one of them had just moved here from Detroit and shared this with us. A friend of hers is a big NKOTB fan and had VIP tickets to the show ( I believe it was the detriot show but I am not 100 percent sure). In any case, she ended up hurting her back really bad right before the show and had to have surgery. There was no way she was able to get there. The friends she had that were also going somehow managed to convince the secruity guards to let them take in a cell phone to the meet and greet. They told Donnie about thier friend and he said, "get her on the phone!" They called her and Donnie talked to her!!!
HOW COOL IS THAT?? He is always doing great things like that for the fans. In fact they all do great things like that. It is so great to see a group who truly and honestly love thier fans and show it. Not only do they show it in the awesome show they put on but by doing these type of things. Making the day of a fan who is missing a chance of a lifetime. I hope that in 2009 this fan gets her chance to meet Donnie in person. It will be well worth the wait!!!
Thank you to Donnie, Danny, Joe, Jon and Jordan for making us all feel loved and appreciated!! The feeling is 100% mutual!

NKOTB Therapy
There are many people in my life that don't understand this new "OBSESSION" I have with New Kids on the Block. Sometimes it is hard for me to understand but I think I have a way to explain it. Besides the obvious reasons, they are HOT, they made a great CD, they put on an AMAZING show and THEY ARE HOT!!! They have helped me cope with a rough year.
My step-mom, Kari, had been battling brain cancer for the past 13 years. For most of those years she was doing great. This past year her tumor came back very aggressively and she lost her fight on November 9th, 2008. Kari and I have never really had a typical mother-daughter relationship. In fact, before she got sick back in 1995 we didn't get along all that well. We did end up having a nice friendship. My dad and Kari had two girls, my sisters. They are now 16 and 13. I have been a big part of their lives and have always tried to be there for them. Now that they have lost their mother I will be stepping in to help my dad.
So what does this have to do with NKOTB you ask? Well, planning for the trip to Minnie, the anticipation of meeting them, the concert and the friends I met on the NKOTB site helped me cope with all that went on this year.
When things get to stressful and I need to escape for a while, I turn to "the guys." I look at videos, pictures and chat with friends. Having this in my life has been my therapy. I love that I have memories to look back on. I love that my best friend and I have SOOOOO much to talk about, other than our everyday lives. (kids, marriage, etc) I love that we can giggle together and know that we won't think the other is stupid for wanting to jump Donnie or Joe after seeing a pic or video. I love that I can listen to the music in my car because my kids love it.
I am sure I am not the only NKOTB fan that feels this way or that this reunion tour has helped them through a rough time. I hope that the guys know how much they have brought to my life. Sounds strange to a "non fan" but to us BLOCKHEADS we understand!!!
Love to you all!!
Vanessa
